From Italy to Jacksonville: Meet Valentina Bonomi

Megan Evans, Staff Writer

This year at Jacksonville High School we have several foreign exchange students, and I got the privilege to interview one of these students: Miss Valentina Bonomi! Valentina is here in the USA from Italy with a program called Aspect Foundation. When I asked her about her favorite part of JHS, she stated that people are so nice! (Good job, Crimsons!) She enjoys the classes she takes, football games, and she also attended Senior Girls’ Overnight! The scariest thing about traveling to the U.S. for her was saying goodbye to all of her friends back home. But she knows she’ll see them next June and said, “They can wait!” She hopes to improve her English while he is here and enjoy the USA as much as she can! When asked the differences between here and her hometown, some of the answers were “colder weather” and “food is just different.” Did you know in Italy they have FIVE years of high school, and they cannot choose the classes they take? Seniors: be thankful! Also, they do not have homecoming! Valentina also stated, “I’ve been here just for two months, but I feel like home.” Welcome to JHS, Valentina! May your journey as a Crimson be all that you’ve hoped for!
