Music. It’s universal. Across the globe, no matter where you go, you will find music. Each continent has its own unique style of music. Steping across the border to a different country leads to a new culture and a new style of music. However, European music is very similar to American music except for one fact; most artists don’t sing in English. Some sing in their native languages, while others sing in English. This is because they find the language more universal and poetic. So as summer approaches and boredom takes control of your life, look up the following artists. Some may be new while others are familiar sounds on the radio. Each song has had its moment of fame, whether it is in America or in the country where the artist comes from. The list of European artists extends much beyond this list. These are only a few.

Looking for more European music? Beyond simply Googling “European song artists,” Google Eurovision Song Contest instead. Eurovision is a singing competition between European countries. It began in 1956 and is one of the longest-running television programs in the world. Each European country submits a song to be broadcast on television and radio. Then, the countries vote to see which song is the best. This year, the competition took place Vienna, Austria. Though the competition has already ended, full-length videos of the performances can be found on the Eurovision website.
So as summer begins, take time to download new music, especially that from Europe. Music is great for long car rides or even a lazy day on the couch. Without a doubt, new music is never a waste of time, especially when it is foreign.
