Take a look around you. Are your friends pretty? Do guys come to you frequently asking about them but never about you? If this is the case, you may be the DUFF.
The hot new movie The DUFF debuted February 20, 2015, in theaters all across america. In this movie, DUFF stands for “designated ugly, fat friend,” and according to Wesley (Robbie Amell), every group of friends has one.
Bianca (Mae Whitman) has two super pretty popular friends, Casey (Bianca Santos) and Jess (Skyler Samuels) and she is their DUFF, but she has absolutely no idea until her childhood friend and now super annoying neighbor Wesley points it out one night at a party.
Throughout the film, Bianca tries desperately to shake the shameful title of DUFF by enlisting the help of Wesley to help make her seem more attractive.
This film is like any other high school movie; there are the pretty popular girls and guys, the love interest, and the mean girls who work to ruin the main character’s life. This is your average high school drama with humorous moments throughout on the big screen.
The mean girl in this movie is Madison (Bella Thorne), who is literally the worst person on the movie screen since Rachel McAdams as Regina George in Mean Girls. From broadcasting an embarrassing video of Bianca romanticising a mannequin to having her followed and recorded, Madison does it all.
Bianca is working towards being able to ask out the guy of her dreams, but the film offers a dramatic twist and in the end she gets the guy– just not the one she was aiming for.
This movie offered laughs and an interesting outlook on being the least pretty friend in a group– maybe it isn’t all bad being the DUFF… I mean, it worked out for Bianca.
