Taken 3 was released on January 9, 2015, starring Liam Neeson. On its opening weekend, it made $40.4 million. Despite its renowned leading man and a strong opening weekend, the movie has not had good reviews at all. In addition, the movie has only made $76 million domestically, which means that after the first weekend, the movie only made $36 million in the U.S. This first movie in this series, Taken, revolves around Kim, the daughter of an ex-CIA agent. Kim begs her father to allow her to travel to Europe. He reluctantly agrees and Kim is abducted upon her arrival abroad. Needless to say, Liam Neeson’s character is outraged and he vows to kill the kidnappers if his daughter is not released. The kidnappers wish him, “Good luck,” not realizing the lengths this father will go to get his daughter back. Taken is a great movie that I would definitely recommend! This movie is a true thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Unfortunately, Taken 3 did not live up to my expectations. Taken and Taken 2 were very well developed and action packed, but I felt that this movie was not up to the standards that were set in the first two movies. Taken 3 had some very intense action scenes, but overall, it was not much of a thriller. The movie also had some unrealistic scenes and plot holes that were hard to ignore. I was also slightly confused throughout the film and these misunderstandings were never cleared up in the end as they sometimes are. There were far too many inconsistencies to make this movie believable. I don’t think that it was necessary to even make a second Taken movie, let alone a third. Taken 3 had the potential to make a great action movie, but it let its viewers down.
