The game Darkest of Days made by Phantom EFX and Third Wave Games has players embark on a journey through time to help correct critical moments and people throughout history. The player is a soldier who recently joined with General Custer’s division during Custer’s last stand. The player’s character was put in the division last moment and transfer documents were lost in D.C. allowing an agent to take players to the future to help find the lost people in time. The players start off immediately with an option to either go to fight with Russians in World War 1 or fight with the Union in the Civil War. Either destination will give players weapons from that time to fight the enemy. Before all of that confusion happens, Agent Dexter (Bob Barnes, Psycho IV: The Beginning) leads the main character (players) on a semi-confusing tutorial is not totally clear on what they want players to do. Players also continually talk with “Mother” (Diane de Zylva) who is a mysterious character whom I believe will be an important part of the storyline later in the game. Although the game and several time travel agents say to not change time, players are given several weapons from the future to blow up Russians or shoot down Confederates. Throughout the game players will also be able to protect some A.I. with blue auras from death by throwing seekers, which will knock said A.I. out or by shooting their legs. This game has a really cool concept in my opinion, but the delivery was far from impressive with bad voice acting, decent gameplay, and a confusing storyline. I would give it a 6.5 out of 10. IMDb.com has an average review rating of 7.4 out of 10.
