Youtubers have become some of the most inspirational and influential people today. As the world changes and younger peoples’ dreams become bigger and seem more impossible, youtubers have shown up and provided the hope that they can travel the world, go to college, or raise money for a charity. Youtubers like Troye Sivan, Tyler Oakley, Connor Franta, JacksGap, and many more put their daily lives on the internet and do as much as they can to provide entertainment, hope, encouragement, and anything else that their viewers may want or need. Some youtubers have created a family within their fanbase that can’t be found with regular celebrities.
Many of the famous youtubers like Tyler Oakley, Connor Franta, and others have started fundraisers for charities through their channels. Connor Franta’s fundraiser that he did earlier in September of 2014 for clean water in Swaziland through The Thirst Project. By the end of the month, he raised over $230,000. For the past couple of years, Tyler Oakley has used his birthday as a time to fundraise for The Trevor Project. It is a national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention to lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, and questioning (LGBTQ) from the ages of 13-24. His goal was to raise $500,000, but that goal was exceeded by over $30,000.
Through the fame of being a famous youtuber, some of them have had the chance to follow their passions because of the extra popularity. Troye Sivan, a youtuber who started out just making covers of others’ songs and putting them on youtube, has now released his ep , TRYXE, last August.
Youtubers not only post their triumphs and goals for the world to see, but they post their downfalls and the struggle it was to finish their goals. They make their lives public or at least a large portion of it for a large audience. Many of them have realized the amount of influence they have on their audience and have made their channels feel like a safe place from bullying and other negativities.
Youtubers are becoming a larger trend with a growing fanbase. Although they are not perfect and do not have as much publicity as normal celebrities, the world’s love for them is growing.
