What would life be like if all the creatures talked about in stories were true? What if vampires, werewolves, hags, zombies, and the things whispered about in the dark roamed around the earth and created havoc?
Paranormalcy, written by Kiersten White, is much like this. The main character, Evie, was taken in by an organization. Soon realizing that Evie wasn’t quite normal, they kept her close, but as she grew older, she grew restless under their constant watch. Dealing with not only the realization that no one knew what she was, and the disasters swimming around her, Evie battles with herself and those around her to figure out the truth.
Although the book’s story line is a good idea and enraptures the reader, a more mature perspective could have been used to highlight the more serious parts of the novel. However, the perspective of the book is brilliant and the author did an outstanding job describing the characters and the world they live in.
