As most of the United States knows already, Five Nights at Freddy’s is a pretty scary game. Five Nights at Freddy’s is not a typical horror game but pretty terrifying in the least. Fellow staff writer, Gwyn Barron, enjoys the horror game and thinks that Five Nights at Freddy’s is “genuinely terrifying to a girl who doesn’t easily scare.” I feel exactly the same way.
The whole point of the game is to survive five nights as a security guard at Freddy Frazbear’s Pizza. To make sure you survive, you have to check the security cameras to watch the animatronics as they walk around the building and close the security doors to evade attack. A little bit more on the walking animatronics–the guy on the phone, the previous guard, explains on the first night that the animatronics have some sort of “free-roam” mode at night and that if the animatronics see you, they will recognize you as an animatronic without costume and try to stuff you into the empty Freddy thus killing you. You do have a means of defense, though. You have lights to see if any animatronics are there, and if one is there, a door to block them. If you don’t react quickly, the game will end with a horrifying jump scare. I first reacted by jumping and gasping. Barron told me how she reacted to the first jump scare, “I screamed.” The last thing to remember: DON’T RUN OUT OF ELECTRICITY!!!!
Now, of course, the animatronics include the brown Freddy Frazbear who is a normal walker, Bonnie Bunny who is also a normal walker, Chica the Chick who is the third normal walker, and Foxy Fox who runs towards your door with a horrifying jump scare. These animatronics will try to hunt and kill you.
Five Nights at Freddy’s will always have interesting gameplay and mechanics which is why I rate this game a 9/10. Good job for being so horrifying, Freddy.
