A movie full of action, explosions, a powerful “tree-man,” and a talking, kick butt raccoon. Guardians of the Galaxy, directed by James Gunn, has all that and more in this latest Marvel movie. Seeing this movie for the first time, I had fun. Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun movie that has good acting and excellent visual effects. Asking Groot for his opinion, Groot responded, “I am Groot.” Rocket explained Groot’s answer with, “He don’t know talking like me and you, so his vacabulistics is limited to ‘I’ and ‘am’ and ‘Groot’ exclusively in that order.”
Reviews on IMDb.com speak highly of the movie as one reviewer, Johnny Maguire, comments, “As a huge fan, I was delighted to hear this film was getting made with the perfect choice of Guardians and what a perfect cast to play them.” Jacob Estabrook, sophomore at JHS, also comments on the film saying, “It’s a really funny movie.”
The Guardians themselves include Gamora, a kick butt, ex-assassin, green lady played by Zoe Saldana (Star Trek), Rocket, a furry, bad-mouthed, gun-loving raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper (The A-Team), Groot, a big, powerful, tree-like thing voiced by Vin Diesel (The Chronicles of Riddick, The Fast and the Furious), Drax, a strong, revenge-obsessed, behemoth played by Dave Bautista (The Man with the Iron Fist), and Star-Lord (Peter Quil), a quick-witted, human super hero played by Chris Pratt (The Lego Movie).
My personal favorite Guardian is Rocket, for he is a small fur ball of funny. Nathan Waggener says Yondu Udonta is his favorite character because “…he is cool.” No matter what, Guardians of the Galaxy is a movie I would see over and over again. If I were to rate this movie, I would give Guardians of the Galaxy a 9.5/10. If you don’t trust my opinion, IMDb.com rates the movie with an average of 8.6/10.
