The Nightshade series is a remarkable series with the threat of a great war constant and the confusion of the characters’ lives. Andrea Cremer, the author, did an amazing job portraying the lives of teenagers forced to fight and grow up before they should.
In the series, a war that’s lasted centuries might have the chance to end, and it all rests on the shoulders of teenagers. The beginning of the end all starts when Calla saves a human boy on a hike, risking not only her life with her masters called the Keepers, but also her pack. Their duty is to protect the mountain they live on from Searchers, their enemy, and they do so without any questions toward their leaders. As she gets closer to the boy she saved, Shay, she learns the truth about her history. Saving Shay’s life yet again, she flees the life she thought she was meant to have, leaving her pack and family behind. Launched into the world of what she thought was her enemies, Calla and Shay learn the complete truth about the war and start to fight along with the Searchers to end the century- long feud.
Andrea Cremer grew up in a small town in Northern Wisconsin, wandering the forests and lakeshores while daydreaming. She has always loved writing and has never stopped, but it took a horse and broken foot to persuade her to write the novel she’d always dreamed of. She now lives in Manhattan and teaches early modern history. Although she lives in a city and has a job, Andrea still writes, and at heart she will always be a small-town girl.
