Everyone get ready because a theater near you is about to be absolutely swimming with fans. On August 8, 2014, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be hitting theaters repeatedly with ninja weapons. When this movie was announced, fans across the nation began shellebrating the turtles’ return almost instantly.
For those of you who don’t know what teenage mutant ninja turtles is, it’s about four turtles that were lost by their owner and found themselves in a sewer filled with a glowing green substance which mutated them into humanoid versions of turtles. They were then taken in by a ninja who was hiding in the sewers. The ninja was mutated into a rat man and thus forced to remain in the sewers to avoid persecution. The man then decides to raise the now intelligent turtles to be ninjas like himself, which is a totally plausible plot.
The Internet Movie Database describes the movie’s plot as “From their home in the storm sewers of Manhattan, four Ninjitsu-trained turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello and their sensei, Master Splinter, battle evil.” Both of these descriptions of course leave out the bad guys, Shredder and his army of foot ninja but I digress.
Based on the trailer, the movie looked very serious and this upset me a bit, but they have a few joking moments at the end so I’m hoping the movie will come through. With Michael Bay at the helm, this movie could fall either way, but if he tries to make the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, their rat man master, and an army of ninjas in New York serious, the movie will definitely fall flat. Despite any predictions, this movie will represent these household names to a new generation. So let’s all hope they make a good impression.
