Nicholas Sparks did it again! Safe Haven came out on Valentine’s Day this year. If you enjoyed Josh Duhamel in Life As We Know It or Transformers or if you enjoyed Julianne Hough in Footloose or Rock Of Ages then this will definitely be a good mash-up of actors for you. Duhamel and Hough star together in Safe Haven, the movie based on the book by Nicholas Sparks.
When a young mysterious woman named Katie shows up in the small town of Southport, North Carolina, her sudden arrival starts to raise questions about her past. Katie tries to keep to herself so she doesn’t make personal relationships. She is faced with a series of events that force her to get close with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children, and with a frank single neighbor, Jo.
Despite wanting to be somewhat secluded, Katie finds herself letting her guard down. Katie starts to get more and more comfortable with each passing day and starts to become attached to Alex and his family. As Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the skeletons in her closet. Falling in love terrifies her while her dark secret still haunts her. Her past had set her on a journey across the country to the sheltered haven of Southport, but she is continually looking behind her back. Katie will have to choose between a life of safety and love or a life of fear. She comes to find that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.
Natalie Flynn says, “The movie is way different than the book, but it’s still very good.”
If you’re into the classic love stories, then Safe Haven is just the movie for you.
