Legit premiered on FX last Thursday and was a great opening to a series that not only has comedy, but realism and heart as well.
In the show, Jim Jefferies took his quadriplegic childhood friend to a brothel, so that the 32 year old could lose his virginity before he died. Though this sounds like a dark comedy, the show had plenty of heart-wrenching and beautiful moments. Former fans who tuned in were impressed along with those who were new to Jim. However, many tuned out before the show could prove its worth.
The show had a strong slot at 9:30 PM after the hit show, Archer. Archer had about one million viewers, but Legit only had about 625,000 viewers. Hopefully, more people will tune in next Thursday and FX will advertise the show with more quality and quantity. It isn’t as if there was nothing to pull in fans. If the emotional bits of the show were to be advertised, that would take in fans of Justified and would help the new show The Americans get a solid fan-base.
Luckily, today’s television is much different from the past. If Legit premiered in the 90’s with less than a million viewers, it would be cancelled, but thanks to Tivo and websites like Hulu, shows get better chances.
Make sure to tune into FX at 9:30 pm every Thursday to catch Legit.
