May is here, and with that, so are the annual “end of year slugs.” As seniors prepare for graduation, and the faculty and other students look forward to the relaxation of summer, something strange happens. While August to April flew by, leaving last summer in the dust, May begins to go by very, very slowly but not for everyone.
Senior Gwyn Barron said, “Every class feels like a week, and every day feels like a month.” Nerves set into the stomachs of the senior class looking ahead to graduation. Some may feel nervous or scared, while others are overjoyed with excitement and anticipation. Either way, feeling as though time is going by slower and slower is a wide-spread epidemic. Senior Anna Anderson has a unique way of looking at this issue. She says, “Every day when I leave school, I feel as if I am out in the world, to do whatever I want. But, when morning comes, I come to the realization that I STILL have to go to school.”
According to the 8th hour journalism class, it only applies to seniors. Junior Joe Hall said, “Oh no, the year has gone by really fast and continues to speed up!” Summer approaching may affect people in different ways, but it seems as if it really hits the senior class with an overwhelming sense of slow motion. Some seniors look forward to summer to prepare for college, while some may join the military or go straight into the workforce. Whatever it is that a senior has to look forward to, it seems as if those goals cannot come soon enough.
