It’s a New Year for a New You

The New Year has just begun. People all over are deciding what types of sacrifices or goals they will be pursuing in 2020.

Some create smaller, easier goals such as not drinking soda or working out more. Others pursue larger goals. For example, some people might choose to finish a big project they’ve been working on or to quit smoking. No matter the size of the goals, they all help people to become a better version of themselves, even if they start doing them after the month of January.

The top three goals made by people are exactly what you’d expect. To eat healthier, exercise more, and to save money. New year’s resolutions are ways for people to change their lifestyles in ways that they think they need to improve.

For the first goal, to eat healthier, one could start meal prepping. Base meals on higher fiber starchy carbohydrates. Make sure to eat tons of fruits and vegetables. Add some fish, such as salmon or cod. Limit the intake of salt, saturated fats and sugar. Eat less than six grams a day of salt. Make sure to keep active and drink lots of water. Most importantly, do not skip breakfast. It is the most important meal of the day. By following these steps, one can ensure a healthier 2020!

In order to exercise more and stick with it, don’t beat yourself up for not working  out daily. It’s easier to start gradually and work your way up. Be nice to yourself and grant yourself rewards for keeping up with it. By doing this, it can hype you up enough to continue exercising throughout the year.

Lastly, saving more money. To do this, make yourself a monthly budget and save a portion each month. If the money you saved is invested, the money will have grown tremendously. Don’t buy things that you don’t need and keep your spending to a minimum. Just remember that you don’t need to buy everything you see!

All in all, now that 2020 has begun, make sure to try and stick with your resolutions! Make 2020 YOUR year!
