Free Bradley Beal

This NBA season has been very unpredictable. Usually at the start of the season, fans can tell who has the best odds at winning it all, but this season is different. Right now it seems like any team in the top seeds in both conferences could win the championship. Since so many teams are very good this season that means there has to be bad teams taking all the losses from the good ones.

One of the worst teams in the league for the past few seasons is the Washington Wizards. They have consistently finished with some of the worst records in the league. Ever since their franchise player, John Wall, went down with a severe injury a few seasons ago, they just have not looked the same. John Wall’s co-star, Bradley Beal, has really stepped into the light and has proven himself to be a superstar in this league.

For the past two seasons, Beal has averaged over 30 points per game, but even with all of his efforts, wins have not been produced. He recently signed a super max contract extension with the Wizards and has repeatedly expressed his loyalty to the organization saying that he wants to retire as a Wizard. Along with saying that he wants to be loyal, he has also expressed some concern about the team and how many losses they are getting.

Many fans just simply think that the Wizards are no good and Beal is amazing, and fans want him out of Washington. Fans have been saying he is wasting his prime in Washington, which is somewhat true. Beal is already 27 years old and by the time his contract expires, he will be 30 years old. At that age he will still be in his prime but very close to nearing the end of it. The only way he can get out of Washington is if the Wizards trade him which is seeming like one of the only options they have to really make a move at improving the team.

The Wizards need to go into full rebuild mode and the first step in stating that is trading Bradley Beal and saving his career. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be loyal, but if he stays until retirement, then his whole career will have been a waste. The Wizards have tried to make improvements and have some very promising young players, but nothing they have been doing is addressing their real problems and that is lack of scoring from anyone besides Beal and their horrific defense. They have the worst defense in the league and it really shows. Once they improve in those categories, they may start winning again, but until then, fans will continue to say “Free Bradley Beal!”
