NBA season resumes before Christmas

The NBA has officially announced that the NBA season will return on December 22, 2020. There will reportedly be no drop in the salary cap so players will not miss out on any money, big contract extensions or new signings. Even though there is no money to be lost, players are still very disappointed in Adam Silver and the rest of the league management.

LeBron James, a player who spends just about $1.5 million on his body every year to be in peak condition, is not happy at all. The start of the next season is only 71 days after the last NBA game was played. This off-season will be the shortest off-season in sports history. The second shortest is a whole 28 days longer than this NBA off-season. Now fans can understand why some players may be angry. This shortened off-season could affect players drastically, especially players like LeBron who are getting older.

As more trade talks roll in and more reports about what teams are going to do this off-season, the news  gets more and more confusing as every day goes by. Report after report it’s hard to keep up with everything that’s going on. There are rumors surrounding reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Many analysts believe he will leave the Bucks in the next off-season when he becomes a free agent and his main destination is the Miami Heat, the team that bounced him and the Bucks out of the playoffs last season.

Another player who has had many trade rumors is Chris Paul. One of the best guards in the league even in his old age, Paul still continues to produce star level numbers night in and night out. Many teams have shown interest in him such as the Bucks, Knicks, Lakers, and the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are looking like the leading team in these trade destinations. They have shown great interest in Paul and many believe he would be a great fit alongside Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Kelly Oubre Jr, who has shown great improvement himself in the past few seasons.

As many rumors have come out so far, this off-season is truly looking like it’s going to be a historic one.
