Boys’ track season begins

The JHS boys’ track team kicked off their 2019 season with an indoor track meet on March 1, 2019. The meet was held at Illinois College at Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center.

The JHS boys’ track team competed in both track and field events. They competed in Men’s 4×200 relay, Shot Put, 4×800 relay, 800m run, 55m dash, 1,600m run, 400m dash, 200m dash, and 4x400m relay. In the 4x200m relay, the boys’ team placed 10th and finished with a 1:39.20. Juniors Carter Lockman and Wil Tomhave competed in Men’s shot put. Lockman finished with a 32’ 5”, and Tomhave finished with 39’ 11”. The next event for the team was the 4x800m relay and the team completed their race with a 9:23.02. Senior Adam Schumacher and junior Christian Solterman both ran in their heats for the Men’s 800m run. Schumacher ran a 2:21.27 and Solterman ran a 2:17.42. Two Crimson athletes competed in the 55m dash and came out with astonishing times. Senior Andrew Bonner and sophomore Jamauri Jackson ran this tough race with eight heats. Jackson ran in the fifth heat and completed a 7.1 second run. Bonner ended his run with a 7.42 second run. Dominic Hinman, a junior at JHS, was the only team member to run the Men’s 55m Hurdles. He came out and finished with 10.18 second run. The mile run is no easy task, but for juniors James Miller and Christian Solterman, it was a piece of cake. Miller ran a time of 5:28.81, and Solterman finished with a 5:15.25. Freshman Phillip Johnson ran his first 400m dash in his first meet as a Crimson. Phillip completed his race under a minute at 54.16. One of the most exciting events to watch is the Men’s 4x400m relay. This was the very last event of the night ending at approximately 11:30pm on Friday. Jacksonville ran a 3:54.64 as a team. This team consists of four young men including senior and Captain Andrew Bonner, junior Mitch Lillpop, and freshmen Phillip Johnson and Ben Range

These results make a true remark about the team and coaches. These are awesome results for their very first meet of the season! Fantastic job to these hard working young men. Good luck on the rest of your season!
