The Boys of the SEC

As the college football season is now half way over, the favorite to win the National Championship sits in the best conference in college football. The SEC’s (Southeastern Conference) own Alabama Roll Tide are projected to win the conference and National Championship, but there are also several other contenders for the Conference Championship game.

The SEC East top contenders include the University of Florida Gators, University of Tennessee Volunteers, and the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Right now the Gators have a better record in the SEC than both of these teams as Florida is 3-1 and Kentucky and Tennessee are 2-2. The Gators will have to lose a game to get knocked out of the picture because Tennessee has already beat them this year, and since they would have the same record if they both would end the season like that, then Tennesse would make it to the Conference Championship. As it stands right now, Florida will make it to the Conference Championship even though they lost to Tennessee. If Florida wins the rest of their games, they will represent the East.

In the West, it’s all Alabama and Texas A&M; something would have to go crazy wrong for one of these two teams to not make it to the Conference Championship game. Both teams are 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference with a high power offense and a good defense. The game that will determine who makes it from the West will be the head-to-head matchup of these two teams. This matchup comes this week so we could be finding out who is going to go home early in the SEC West chase after that game.

The ESPN prediction is that either Tennessee or Florida will win the SEC East and Alabama will win the West. ESPN then has Alabama winning the SEC, but anything is possible so we will have to see soon who is going to compete in the always-fun-to-watch SEC championship game.
