The University of Illinois men’s basketball team just added a big time player in the class of 2015–Jalen Coleman. Coleman, from La Lumiere High School in Indianapolis, is a big-time scorer at the guard position. He brings to the Illini a threat of three points every time the ball is in his hands. Coleman is the 34th ranked high school player in the nation and one of the top at his position. Coleman’s commitment to the Illini ends a drought of Illinois getting players from the state of Indiana. La Lumiere High School is in a region that is dominated in recruiting by the likes of the University of Indiana and Notre Dame. Coleman chose Illinois over Notre Dame, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina State, and UNLV.
Coleman adds to an already very good recruiting class that Illinois has for the 2015 season. The shooting guard from Indianapolis joins fellow shooter Aaron Jordan and swing player DJ Williams both from Chicago. Both of these players are promising recruits with Williams also being ranked in the top 100 in the country. These three give Illinois coach John Groce a great foundation to take the Illini to another level on the court.
