The difficulties for the Lady Crimsons basketball team continue. After an injury-plagued season so far, the Lady Crimsons lost on Thursday, January 10, to the Lanphier Lions. The final score was 53-48 with Lanphier picking up the win.
Currently, the Lady Crimsons are dealing with a plethora of injuries. Senior Kristen Koch went down with a possible ALC or meniscus injury during the Lanphier game. Along with Koch, many other girls have been injured in the past few weeks: Claire Cody has been out with shin splints and is due to return to the team next week, Katie Shafer has been out with a hip injury, Emily Hillis with an ankle injury, and Emma Fenner with a concussion. Sarah James returned to the team right before the game against Lanphier.
Even with all of the injuries, Coach Jeanette Barlow remains optimistic about the team. “With so many girls out, we’ve had to assign different roles to different girls than we normally would. Even with their different roles, the girls have been rising to the occasion, showing us potential and character. A loss now, I think, will help us with a win in the future.”
The next girls’ basketball game is Saturday, January 19, at Lincoln, and the final home game of the season is Tuesday, January 29.
