With November just around the corner, the JHS girls’ basketball season is quickly approaching. Tryouts for the 2012-2013 season will begin on October 29 and continue through October 31. The first game of the season will be on November 13 at Quincy High School. Over Thanksgiving break, there will be a tournament held at Taylorville High School.
Jaeyln Keene, a junior, was the leading scorer in the 2011-2012 season. She scored 228 field goals in 490 chances for a 46.5 field goal percent.
Senior Cydny Saxer was the team leader in three-pointers with 55 in 178 attempts.
Andriana McGee, the only player from the 2011-2012 team who graduated, was the team leader in steals last year with 81.
Jeanette Barlow, girls’ basketball coach and P.E. teacher at JHS, is optimistic for the upcoming season. “I like the mix of girls we have this year,” Barlow said. “We have a nice mix of youth and experience with all of the girls, and I think that will help us out on the court.”
