Boys’ soccer started the season with a 4-2 win over Lincoln High School on Tuesday, August 20. The home opener was a much anticipated kick-off to the much anticipated 2012 season after a hard loss at the regional championship game against Chatham Glenwood last season.
“This is the first time we’ve done two-a-days during the summer,” said team captain and three year varsity player Austin Hunter. “We are ready for this season.”
This year, the Crimsons are led by former player Evan Philpott, who succeeded Steve West after 33 years of dedicated coaching. Coach Philpott is excited to have his first varsity win under his belt. “It’s exciting to see the boys do well. They have been working extremely hard since the summer began and you can see it in the way that they play.”
All in all, keep an eye out for this year’s squad; they have a promising future ahead of them.
