The JHS Boys and Girls team have both won the first meet of the year at Community Park, placing above Quincy and Quincy Notre Dame.
“I would like to see both teams finish in the top four of the Central State 8 Conference this year,” said Coach Van Bebber, “In addition, I believe that both teams should advance to the sectional meet in Decatur. I think that we have the ability to have at least one or two individuals or even a team qualify for the state meet in Peoria (Nov. 3rd).”
The first meet of the year happened on Tuesday, August 28, and the meets for September are Granite City on Sept. 1, Peoria Woodruff on Sept. 8, Edwardsville on Sept. 15, Springfield on Sept. 22, and the Jacksonville Invite on the 29th.
Says Coach Vanbebber, “We need to continue to improve on our mental toughness in order to reach our potential. I am excited about the season and look forward to seeing what we can accomplish.”
