Things to do in quarantine

Amelia Symons, staff writer

As schools, restaurants, and businesses have been forced to close due to the ever-growing pandemic, students and families have been forced to stay inside their homes and not gather with others. This isolation and time spent in your house with your family has brought about a lot of things, but one thing in particular… boredom. Here a few things you can do to curb your boredom while stuck inside during COVID-19.

Clean your room. When our lives are busy, we often “forget” to clean our rooms. Whether your bed needs to be made, your clothes need folded and put away, your closet is overflowing, or your room needs dusted, take this time to declutter and clean. During this time we are spending more and more time in our rooms, so make it look appealing and look like a place that you would want to spend a lot of time in.

Bake something yummy. Take ingredients from your refrigerator and pantry and cook something up for your family. Follow a recipe or don’t.

Do things you have been putting off. There is no better time than the present. We all subscribed to hundreds of useless emails when we were younger, so take this time to unsubscribe to those email services that are clogging your email.

Take care of yourself. Do a face mask or a hair mask and have a self-care day. Treat yourself to doing those things for yourself that you wouldn’t have time to do during a normal week.

Take this time to improve yourself. Yes, you can sit around and mope about school, work, and events being cancelled, or you can make the best out of a bad situation. Life will return to normal and when it does, we will come out of this with a new found gratefulness for “normalcy.”
