April is National Poetry Month. This is the month that we celebrate all forms of written word that are not used very often. All month long we celebrate the poets who inspire us with their wonderful range of poems.
I’m sure that deep down some of us have a favorite poet and a poem that we greatly enjoy. The reasons why we love the poet/poem could be extensive or they could be very simple, but for whatever reason we’re always drawn to these interesting pieces of literature.
One of my favorite poets is Robert Frost and his poem, The Road Not Taken. My favorite part in the entire poem is the last stanza:
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
I’ve always loved it because this stanza is the embodiment of the choice I like to live by. I refuse to take the road that everyone else takes. I like to march to the beat of my own drum.We always try to find a way to connect with poetry and their different poets. So for the rest of April, pick up a poetry book and find your own connection.
