With warm weather, blooming flowers, birds chirping, and spring break, who wouldn’t be ready for spring? As spring is my favorite season, I can tell you I have been anticipating its arrival since winter began. My closet is already filled with bright colors and sandals that I cannot wait to begin wearing. I also love driving around with my windows down and my music blaring.
I believe spring also puts people in better moods. With additional sunlight, the amount of serotonin, the chemical in your body which triggers happiness, increases. This essentially creates happier people throughout the season. I also think that it gets people motivated to do more things like spring cleaning and beginning exercise routines.
Along with spring comes the start of many sports seasons — not only at JHS but also professional leagues. Here at JHS, there are many sports which begin in the spring such as baseball, softball, boys’ and girls’ track, and boys’ tennis. Major league baseball teams begin their training for the season, hence the term “spring training.”
One thing most people tend to dislike about spring is daylight savings. In the fall, we “fall back” and gain an hour of sleep while in the spring we “spring forward” which means we lose an hour of sleep. The day after this time change in the spring is the day of the year when most automobile accidents happen. It’s hard to get used to but in the end I think it is worth it because of the extra hour of daylight we receive in the evenings.
Spring break is something everyone in school looks forward to after winter break. It not only means getting to relax for a few days but it also means summer is coming soon! Many people enjoy taking vacations to beaches during this time or just staying at home being lazy. Whatever it is you choose to do this spring break, make sure you are doing something you enjoy.
When spring finally rolls around, make sure you get out and enjoy the beautiful weather! Go for a bike ride or have a picnic at the park. Whatever you do, be sure to thank Mother Nature for the delightful weather she gives us every year.
