Homecoming week is a big deal here at JHS. We have spirit days, float building, and a pep rally. But one of the things I most looked forward to was Senior Girls Overnight.
Girls in the 2013 senior class showed up to the high school around 11 p.m. last Friday to decorate the school with posters, streamers, glitter, and duct tape. Our goal was to get students excited for homecoming and to participate in activities held here. Most importantly, it was to show our school spirit and to support our football boys.
We all divided into groups and scattered throughout to school so that every section was decorated. Trying to tie in the colors of the theme, “Beneath the Waves,” we put up blue and green streamers along with our school colors. The main display case was also filled with fish naming the different clubs we have to offer at JHS.
After decorating for multiple hours, with a pizza break in between, we made our marks in the cafeteria. We attempted to think up the cleverest names to tape on the walls and how to position them with our friends’ names. Many of us also decorated our friends’ lockers with the tape, making signs to place on them as well.
It was a fun-filled, yet tiring, night. Check-out time was at five in the morning, and we all left covered in glitter and decorated out.
