The Super Bowl is one of the most widely watched telecasts in the country. Certainly most of those viewers wanted to watch the game (the Baltimore Ravens won against the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31), but a large portion of the viewership was more interested in the commercials. With a thirty-second commercial costing $4 million, many companies buy an ad hoping to gain back what they spent from the large viewership.
Some of the most popular commercials this year were unique to say the least. There were two Doritos commercials, one dealing with a dad playing princess with his daughter to get the chips and one with a Doritos-eating goat. An Audi commercial involved a teenage boy going to prom alone and getting punched by the prom king after kissing the prom queen. Go Daddy had a commercial with a dorky (to put it nicely) man kissing a supermodel. Taco Bell shot octogenarians getting into teenage trouble like PDA, tattoos, and late night tacos. Wheat Thins used an overprotective man with night vision goggles watching his box of crackers and protecting it from Bigfoot.
The Super Bowl game is what brings people to watch the broadcast, but they stay for the commercials.
