Sunday was the big day. The San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens played in the final game of the NFL 2013 season the XLVII Super Bowl.
This Super Bowl featured one of the most exciting games in Super Bowl history. This game had one of the greatest attempted comebacks ever. This event also had a 30-plus minute blackout delay and an amazing halftime performance by the fabulous Beyoncé.
This Super Bowl was hosted in New Orleans, which according to a senior JHS student Sam Anderson was “a great place to have it.” It was a great game to watch.
There were many outrageous moments of the XLVII Super Bowl, one of which was the power outage. There were many jokes surrounding the scandal such as “Beyoncé’s halftime show used up all the power” which was not the case.
Everyone was confused as to what was happening. All the while the players ran and stretched to keep loose, and cheerleaders cheered in the dark. Thankfully after about 30 minutes the power came back to the Super Dome.
A few other crazy moments of the Super Bowl included the Ravens fake field goal by Justin Tucker essentially giving three points away. John Harbaugh was the first referee to ever call a fake field goal in NFL history. One other crazy moment was when Colin Kaepernick threw an interception and a fight erupted between the Ravens cornerback, Cary Williams, and an official.
Also, one other highlight of this 2013 Super Bowl was Beyoncé’s halftime show. Many people are calling her performance one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows ever. It was definitely one to watch, with a surprise performance from Destiny’s Child.
At the end of the game, the Baltimore Ravens came out on top. With a drama filled Super Bowl game, many people thought that it was certainly one game you could never miss. Anderson referred to the game as “one of the most exciting Super Bowls I’ve ever seen.”
Both the 49ers and the Ravens put up a good fight; however, the Ravens seemed to fight just a little bit harder. The Ravens are now the reigning XLVII Super Bowl champions.
