The Summer I Turned Pretty series keeps readers engaged

Everyone has seen the movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. This iconic movie was inspired by the book written by Jenny Han. Jenny Han is an american author known for writing teen romance novels. After reading the To All the Boys series, I wanted more. I found The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy. The first book of the series The Summer I Turned Pretty is just the beginning of Isabel also known as “Belly” and the Fisher boys. Belly’s family has always been great family friends with the Fishers. Belly has always felt like the odd man out from her brother, Steven, and the Fisher boys, Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has always had a love for Conrad. Conrad is the more mysterious of the Fisher boys as he doesn’t show what’s inside. Jeremiah, on the other hand, is as his mother Susana calls him “her Angel.” Jeremiah is perfect on paper: he’s good at sports, funny and charming. The story takes a turn for the worst when a tragic loss shakes both families.

The second book, It’s Not Summer Without You, covers the next summer with Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly had previously dated Conrad during the school year until things went south. Belly misses Conrad dearly but is also so angry for how things went down. At Susana’s funeral, Belly explodes on Conrad and believes that he may never forgive her. Belly lays low for a while until he gets a call from Jeremiah. Jeremiah is calling out for help as Conrad has disappeared right before midterms. Belly and Jeremiah travel to the beach house to find a brooding Conrad. However, Conrad is not there for the reason they think.

In the third book, We’ll Always Have Summer, Belly and Jeremiah, who have been dating for quite a while, decide to tie the knot. Both still in college, they think they want to be with each other forever. All odds are against them, even their own parents. Days before the wedding Belly has lasting feelings for Conrad. She manages to push them down until the day before the wedding when she confesses to Jeremiah the truth. Belly loves both boys, but must choose one and risk losing both.

The trilogy keeps you on your toes as Belly decides her fate.
