Twenty One Pilots release new single “Christmas Saves the Year”

Popular band Twenty One Pilots is showing their festivity this year with their new single “Christmas Saves the Year.” Twenty One Pilots released the song yesterday on December 8.

Similar to their 2018 album Trench, the single was both written and recorded in lead singer Tyler Joseph’s Columbus home studio. Josh Dun, the drummer of the band, sent in his drumming remotely. Tyler Joseph teased his fans earlier this year by saying, “I’m working on the new album.” With this new single, fans are even more excited to hear the new album and sounds.

Even with quarantine and COVID-19, the band still manages to write and release their music. Dun had a lot to say about the issue, “I think it probably takes longer than some artists coming out with new albums because we don’t have other people really helping us. And, also, logistically, we’re in different places. We both have our own studios, which is really nice, so he comes up with a lot of stuff at his studio, sends it over to me, and then I come up with some stuff here at my own studio and then send it back.”

Before “Christmas Saves The Year” was released, Tyler Joseph was in a live-streamed Fortnite tournament on streaming app Twitch for charity. During the stream, the band revealed new emotes on the streaming site and answered a few donations.

Whether or not the new song will be leading to a new album or not, fans don’t know. However, fans do suspect that the new album may not be too similar to Trench. Lead singer Tyler Joseph spoke out about his worries this August. “We could make two very different records. I have an idea of what I think is next, sonically. It’s just whether or not it’s too big of a risk, I guess.”

No matter what the new album will sound like, fans all over the world are excited. Many are even hoping they release it around Christmas. Like “Christmas Saves The Year” says, “Rest assured, Christmas saves the year.”
