My Chemical Romance makes a temporary comeback

Bre Scott, Staff Writer

After an album clip led to a false alarm in 2016, My Chemical Romance fans have given up hope on the band’s reunion-until now. Although broken up in 2013, the band was formed in 2001 in New Jersey. Even though Gerard Way insisted there would not be a reunion, the band has gone back on their promise and surprised millions of people with the start of a reunion tour in December 2019. The ex-members (Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Ray Toro, James Dewees, and Frank Iero) have expressed their exhilaration in touring together again.

Known for their world famous album The Black Parade, the band’s genre can only be described as alternative emo: a music taste that has appealed to multiple generations. In total, the band has created four official albums: The Black Parade (2006), I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love (2002), Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004), and Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (2010). Besides their four albums, My Chemical Romance has also released eight EPs and 26 singles when they were still together.

Currently, My Chemical Romance is a part of the lineup for the Download 2020 tour festival. The music festival will also host other bands including, but not limited to; KISS, Of Mice and Men, Korn, and The Offspring. Download 2020 will have locations in Melbourne (March 20, 2020), Sydney (March 21, 2020), and Tokyo (March 28, 2020).  However, the band is also planning on starting their reunion in Los Angeles (December 20, 2019) and making a stop in Auckland, New Zealand (March 25, 2020). Tickets for their Los Angeles stop are already sold out, so it seems that a My Chemical Romance reunion may have been just what fans wanted for Christmas.
