Last Christmas is the Worst Movie of the Year

Julianne Wilson, Staff Writer

Recently, I saw the movie Last Christmas. I strutted into the theater with high hopes and left disappointed. This 2019 movie release falls in the drama and romance category. It is geared towards teens and young adults and is rated PG-13. The movie earned a 49% on the movie review site, Rotten Tomatoes. I would rate the movie a 1/10 due to bad acting and writing.

The movie has A-list celebrities paired with ametuer writing. The script made no sense. The storyline creeped me out. The movie starts with a young woman named Kate, who seems to have no direction in her life. Her immigrant family is let down by her lack of motivation. Kate then meets Tom. Tom seems to flash in and out of Kate’s life. Kate goes days without hearing from Tom but eventually Kate questions Tom’s existence all together. Kate had a heart transplant a year prior. The main character, Kate, falls for Tom. Tom’s presence is questionable as Kate falls in love with him. Kate’s love interest weirds me out.  I was not fond of the shop owner character, Santa. All the characters seemed too cookie cutter. Even Kate, as she was portrayed as a sloppy young woman seemed too put together. One of the only put together aspects of this movie was the production. The cameras they used to film seemed to be very high quality. The film and editing were very professional.

I would not recommend going to this movie. I was bored and confused the whole time. The only pro was laughing at the movie and its hysterics. I also enjoyed a cherry ICEE and popcorn. As I stated earlier, this 1/10 movie is not worth your time.
