Over the summer The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was released in theaters everywhere. The movie was based from the Mortal Instruments series created by Cassandra Clare.
The Mortal Instruments is about a young girl named Clarissa (Clary) Fray who is living in New York City with her mom. After a freak encounter at a local club, she runs into a stranger who seems to have all the answers to her questions, especially after her mom turns up missing and she is attacked by a horrible demon. Clary is saved by the same stranger, Jace Wayland.
Together with Jace and her best friend Simon, Clary sets out to find her mom. In the process, she also finds out more about who she really is.
Another series out there is the Twilight saga created by Stephenie Meyer. Now for those who’ve lived under a rock, Twilight is about a girl named Bella Swan who meets Edward Cullen and falls in love with him.
Both books are well known, and they both have very loyal fans. Although there are some people who try to say these movies are exactly the same, they aren’t.
For example, in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Clary takes part in controlling her destiny more than Bella does. Also Jace Wayland isn’t Mr. Perfect like Edward appears to be throughout Twilight.
Throughout The Mortal Instruments, we can see the cracks in Jace’s personality and we can see the chemistry between Jace and Clary. The books and the movie don’t just revolve around their growing feelings for each other but also the other characters’ stories as well.
In Twilight, the story line appears more forced and less than real, and the lead characters have less chemistry. In a choice between The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and Twilight, I personally would choose The Mortal Instruments.
What side will you choose: The Mortal Instruments or Twilight?
“Everything you’ve heard… about monsters, about nightmares, legends whispered around campfires. All the stories are true.”-Hogde Starkweather in Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
“And so then lion fell in love with the lamb” “What a stupid lamb” “What a sick, masochistic lion” Edward and Bella in Twilight
