The end really has come for Maximum Ride. James Patterson has come out with the eighth book in the Maximum Ride series called Nevermore.
In Nevermore, Max and the gang are trying to settle down after everything that happened with Angel. Max is also having her own problems by trying to deal with her growing attraction for her “other half” Dylan. In an effort to seem semi-normal, Max, Dylan, Iggy, Nudge, and Gazzy are all going to an actual school.
Fang on the other hand is trying to deal with being hunted and trying to stop the crazy madmen who want to destroy the human race. He also is trying to deal with his conflicting feelings of Max’s clone Maya and his guilt of leaving the flock behind and creating his own. A major threat looms in the air over Fang and his gang, and this fight is for blood. Ari has come back from the dead, and he is worse than ever.
Meanwhile, Max is trying to adjust to the whole school environment because unlike the others, Max isn’t exactly a social butterfly. Also she is still trying to deal with the feelings she has for Dylan and what she still feels for Fang. Ari has paid Max a visit to tell Dylan that he should “cease and desist,” and he told Max that her clone Maya was killed by his own hand. Now the flock has to deal with hearing the “Voice” that Max always used to hear and the fact that the Voice has given them each an assignment to help Max.
After the battle, Fang has left his gang and has gone on his own. He now learns from his “Voice” that he must go back to Max and the flock to help her. However he doesn’t like the fact that Dylan is there in his place. On his way to Max, he runs into trouble because some thugs that are part of the 99% plan push him over the edge of a cliff. He lives but not without a few major injuries.
While all of this is going on, poor Angel is being tortured by a bunch of lab coats that are under the command of Jeb, Max’s father.
Back at Max’s place, everyone is woken up abruptly by Iggy’s loud alarm system and soon they all find out what made the alarm go off was Fang. Everyone but Dylan is happy that Fang has come back, so trying to get him to leave, Dylan tells Fang that every scientist in the world is after him and he will tell him why only if he agrees to leave and never come back. Fang refuses the offer.
Together again the flock now realize, with the help of one of Fang’s bloggers, that Angel may be alive in a government facility. Naturally the flock goes straight to the lab, and after much digging, they find Angel and they see the state that the scientist left her in. Angel tells Max that her mother is part of the 99% plan.
Now that Angel is home and safe Max, needs some alone time to get her emotions in check. Fang takes that as an opportunity to tell Max how he feels, but Max doesn’t let him. So the two of them stay suspended in the air after they fight and just look at one another.
Dylan sees everything that happened between Max and Fang. He then has a major breakdown. He starts destroying cars, mailboxes and pretty much anything he can. After all the devastation he realizes that he must kill Fang in order to be with Max.
When Max gets back to the house, Gazzy tells her that Dylan left. She goes after him and sees all the destruction he caused, and she blames herself for it. Realizing that she has pushed Dylan very far away, she goes back to the house to try to get some sleep.
After being awoken abruptly Max rushes outside thinking it was Dylan but she got a surprised when she finds her little brother Ari is outside with and Eraser army under the command of Jeb. Jeb tells the flock that Fang holds the key to immortality and that he must die. A huge battle begins and it ends with Dylan trying to kill Fang and Dr. Martinez coming to take the flock to paradise.
Find out what happens to Max and the flock when they go to paradise. Will they finally get to live in peace and be happy? Will Max and Fang finally be able to be together? What will happen to the world and to everyone who wasn’t picked to be saved? Is it finally time for Maximum Ride?
Read Nevermore to find out what happens to the flock and to the world. Find out if she will be able to do what she was made to do. In the words of Maximum Ride: “Save your world. Love it, protect it, and respect it, and don’t let haters represent it.”
