Back to school means Homecoming

Anna Bezler, staff writer

As the 2016-17 school year rolls in, all the students and teachers are getting back in the swing of things. Everyone is reconnecting with friends and meeting new people.  The fall sports are starting up and everyone is getting involved. It is almost midterm of the first quarter, so the school year is already flying by.

In addition, Homecoming is coming up next week! It is the best week of the whole year. Spirit week starts with ‘Merica Monday, so everyone wears red, white, and blue. Tuesday is Twin Day. Everyone should attempt to look exactly like someone else for a whole day! On Wednesday, it is Class Color Day. After school there is Powderpuff Football at the track and Ironman Volleyball in the gym. Jersey Day is on Thursday, so wear your favorite jersey to school then go to the pep rally, full of fun activities. Show your school spirit on Friday by wearing Crimson colors! After school on Friday, go to the Homecoming parade along State Street, where a bunch of your fellow classmates will be walking with teams and groups to celebrate Homecoming. Then on Friday night, the Crimsons take on Lincoln in the Homecoming football game. Saturday night, all students will come in their best outfits to the Homecoming dance. It’s one of the best nights of the year!

On the other hand, the school year is going pretty smoothly. The freshmen are getting used to the high school environment, and the upperclassmen have been super helpful. The REFs (role models encouraging freshmen) have been teaching the freshmen all about JHS and getting to know their advisory students. Juniors and seniors are starting to focus on their SATs and starting to think about their lives after high school. This school year will be one to remember!
