Interact Club helps out the Presbyterian Church

Interact Club is an organization through Rotary which allows teens ages 14 to 18 to participate in a variety of activities.  Interact Club bases their activities and projects off of the four main principle elements of the club including community service, finance, international understanding, and club service.  Interact Club meetings are usually held on Monday nights at the Soup Co. Coffee House.

Over the weekend of Saturday, November 14, the Jacksonville High School Interact Club carried out their first community service project of the year.  In order to help out the Presbyterian Church with their new playground project, the Interact Club set aside a couple of hours to clean the site.  Leaves were raked and placed into trucks for dumpster disposal, the ground was leveled, several play toys were put in, and playground surfacing was laid.  This was all completed over the span of three hours.  Many Interact Club members were present as well as local community volunteers.  Their hard work will hopefully help to initiate further construction of the playground which will be ready for the children of the Presbyterian Church in the spring.

Interact Club plans to ring bells for the Salvation Army in the near future for their second community service task.  For more details, refer to the the sign-up sheet located outside the main office.  If you are interested in joining Interact Club, pay attention to when meetings are held in the Student Announcements during advisory time or contact Mrs. Beard.
