In a ceremony held in the JHS auditorium on Wednesday, February 15, The National English Honor Society’s President, Ashley Pond, vice-president, Andrea Phelps, secretary, Sydne Peck, and treasurer, Holden Jones all gathered to welcome 50 new members to NEHS.
New inductees include: David Albers, Brendan Barlow, Allison Behrends, Holly Bentley, Josiah Burchard, Fatima Calmese, Megan DeWitt, Payton Dugan, Adam Enz, Thomas Estabrook, Natalie Flynn, Katherine Hackett, Brennan Haggerty, Nicholas Hamilton, Justice Hammers, Hannah Harder, Patrick Heise, Sydney Holloway, Erica Howell, Austin Hunter, Mitchell Karr, Amy King, Kristen Koch, Cassie Lindsey, Katherine Linder, Clayton Lonergan, Ashley Mason, Tyler May, Lauren McQueen, Adam Metz, Chelsie Owen, Joshua Peak, Elaine Richardson, Dakota Roach, Jacob Roth, Ryan Sanders, Dominic Scott, Linda Selimi, Claire Simonds, Dalton Slater, Cary Smith, Brady Sprinkle, Jennie Stare, Bentley Stewart, Dara Sweatman, Miranda Turner, Aaron Vasquez, Stephen Vollmer, Ashton Wiegand, and Jordan Wyatt.
For eligibility of NEHS, it is a must for students to have an overall GPA of 3.5 and an English GPA of 3.65, with no grade lower than a “B-“. (Grades are required to continue in order to remain a member.) Then, the application, submitted by a student, will be reviewed by the Faculty Advisory Council. Finally, an induction fee of $10 must be paid for first year membership (there is a $5 fee for second year members.)
