The students had to construct a truss bridge out of manila folders that could not weigh more than 100 grams and could be no longer than 28 inches and no shorter than 26 inches. The teams were judged in three separate categories: 1) Constructability 2) Innovation, Creativity, and Originality, and 3) Load Testing to Failure (how much weight the bridge could hold).
The three teams were Team Crimson, made up of Amanda Caldwell-Jacques, Patrick Heise, and Patrick Nelson; Team Awesome, comprised of Jim Day, Jacob Miller, and Matthew Underwood; and Team Sasquatch, made up of Brenton Kitson, Nick Poole, and Alan Meunier. Team Awesome took 23rd place with a bridge that held 13 pounds. Team Sasquatch took 18th place with a bridge that held 23 pounds.
