Crimson J

  • "The future belongs to those who prepare for it today." --Malcolm X
  • "Journalism allows its readers to witness history; fiction gives its readers an opportunity to live it." - John Hersey
  • "If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be."

When she’s not traveling her way up the DECA ladder, Claire Leanard can be found writing for the school’s newspaper. Claire is a first-year member of the Crimson J staff and is entering her senior year at Jacksonville High School! She is excited to participate in the school newspaper because writing has been an avid interest for most of her life. As mentioned earlier, Claire is a member of DECA, the school’s business club, as the secretary. She competed at three different levels in the competition (Districts, State, and Internationals) last year. She plans on advancing the same this year as she did last. Claire is also an active member of the girls’ swim team and dedicates herself to being the best teammate she can be. Outside of school, Claire is usually reading, watching a good show, or hanging out with her raspberry tea and asiago bagel at Soap Co. on the square. She hopes to make her senior year the best year yet!
