Austin Hale , Staff Writer
Austin Hale is a senior at Jacksonville High School with a goal in mind to graduate and go to Germany with the GAP program. He collects glass soda bottles that are unique or limited edition. For example, he has a favorite one with Michael Jackson on it. It’s a Pepsi can, of course, because of Jackson’s commercial and promotion of Pepsi. His favorite thing above all is medieval history like the age of Vikings, the crusade, King Arthur, and the Renaissance. Austin’s favorite historical figure has to be Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc) because she is one of the very few women in history to fight in a war before there were women’s rights. Austin is a religious person but not Christian or the known type of religion. He is part of an old religion, one of the very first of this world. He’s part of the Norse faith that means he believes in many gods; a few are Loki, Thor, Odin, Freya, and Skadi. He has many gods which makes him polytheistic. He lives by the way of some virtues; there are nine of them, and he does his best to live by them as any religious person would live by their God’s will. Austin loves a variety of music; he’s not tied down to one specific type of music. His favorite group is Eluvietie, a type of folk metal group. He is a Lord of the Rings fan. He watches the movies biweekly, including The Hobbit his dream is to live in a Hobbit Hole in Alaska. Austin plans to get a tattoo of the Tree of Gondor, also known as the White Tree of Osgiliath name of the white city. He’s a major gamer. Just like any normal gamer, he has a favorite game, which happens to be an uncommon type of game. It’s called Dynasty Warriors, a history game. Who in their right mind likes a historical game? Well, Austin isn’t normal and likes things others do not typically like, and he’s proud to be that way--different.
