What’s next for NBA as offseason begins

With the NBA season coming to a close and the Los Angeles Lakers winning the title, fans have to ask, what will happen to the league now? After an amazing playoff run from the 5th-seeded Heat, their run had to come to an end losing in the NBA Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.

The Heat looked as though they were straight up out matched with a lack of scoring after Goran Dragić went down with a foot injury in Game 1, and a lack of an inside presence after losing Bam Adebayo in Game 1 as well. They didn’t look as though they stood a chance. Going down two games to none, the Heat were in desperate need of a win and that’s what they got. In Game 3, Jimmy Butler had a historic night racking up 40 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists, becoming only the third player in history to have a 40-point triple-double in the Finals and that was enough to get them the win. After a disappointing Game 4 loss, the Heat were now down three games to one, and with their season on the line, Jimmy Butler had another monster game in Game 5 and recorded another triple-double becoming only the second player in history to record multiple 35+ point triple-doubles in one Finals series. Unfortunately, those two monster performances were not enough and the Heat went on to lose in Game 6, making the Los Angeles Lakers the 2020 NBA Champions. This Championship for the Lakers puts them at 17 total championships, tying the Boston Celtic for the most Championships in history.

With the off-season starting, big news stories will begin to pop up, maybe some news about another great player coming to Miami who could push them over the edge and bring another ring to Miami. Only time will tell what could happen this off-season. Miami is a big market and many players want to go there especially after the playoff run they had this year and seeing all the young talent. Who knows what could happen. Miami could become a powerhouse this season. Miami has pulled off some big things before such as bringing LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh together back in 2010. Pat Riley knows what he’s doing and their coaching situation is perfect. Erik Spoelstra is one of the best in the league. So fans will have to wait to see what they can do, and don’t be surprised if they make a big splash this upcoming season.
