Girls swim team: Diving into the season

Abby Scribner, Staff writer

The girl’s swim season started with a “splash” on August 15.  With the help of their swim coach, Sam Black, the girls having been working hard at practice to beat their times at swim meets. The season for girls’ swim ends November 12, the day of sectionals. The girls still have a lot of practices to improve and times to beat! The girls work hard Monday through Thursday for an hour and half.

Sadie Finch has been on the swim team for three years and plans to continue her senior year too. Sadie hopes to drop her time for her races she has to swim. She also told me their last meet was on September 24 in Bloomington. The team had beat one team and hopes they will rank higher in the next meet. Sadie works hard to swim the 500, the hardest race she swims. Sadie is hoping to drop her time throughout the season and get placed higher in the heat. As the team prepares for sectionals on November 12, Sadie says “We as a team are somewhat ready; some people need to work on strokes and dropping their times. A lot of girls have really improved from the beginning of the season. With everyone putting in hard work, I think we will be able to do it!”

With sectionals approaching in little over a month, the girls still have time to work hard and accomplish their goals. Their coach, Sam Black, has also been working hard to make sure the girls beat their times and improve. Best of luck to the swim girls!
