Regardless of how good of a professional career Buddy Hield will have in the NBA, it is evident that he will be remembered as one of the most dominant players ever in college basketball.  Hield was nothing short of dominant in the Oklahoma Sooners’ decisive win over the Oregon Ducks in the Elite Eight.  Buddy nailed his first two three-point attempts to get off to a hot start as his Sooners jumped out to an early 10-5 lead in a game in which they would never trail.  Hield and his teammates continued to pour on the scoring en route to a huge eighteen-point lead at halftime over the number-one seeded Ducks.  Hield finished the half with 17 points.

Oregon did manage to outscore the Sooners in the second half, but it wasn’t even close to being enough.   Hield picked up right where he left off by topping his performance in the first half with 20 second-half points.  Buddy got lots of help from fellow guards Jordan Woodard and Isaiah Cousins.  Woodard scored 13 points and Cousins added 11 to help create a very balanced attack that made it impossible for Oregon to stop anything.  Hield’s amazing 37-point performance was directly impacted by his efficient shooting.  He was 13-20 from the field including 8-13 from the three-point line.

Oregon’s two talented scorers combined for only 31 points, six less than Hield.  Elgin Cook had a nice game as he poured in 24 points of his own, but Dillon Brooks battled foul trouble and struggled to get anything going, only to finish with an underwhelming 7 points.

Oklahoma moves one step closer to the National Title as they advance to take on the Villanova Wildcats in the Final Four in Houston.
