Sweet 16 South Region: Super ‘Nova Elite

Villanova 16

Villanova has found their way to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2009. They have blown by their opponents so far along the way. Blowing out UNC-Asheville and also Iowa in the first couple of rounds, Miami defeated nationally beloved Wichita State in the second round. A berth in the Elite Eight would be on the line.

This game ended up being a rout. Villanova never trailed in this game. While it was a rout, at first it looked like it could be a game. At the half, Villanova only led by six points. That was thanks to a Kris Jenkins three pointer from the logo on center court—that is Steph Curry range! After the break, ‘Nova used a balanced attack to just keep piling the points on…and that they did. ‘Nova ended up winning 92-69.

Ryan Arcidiacono and Kris Jenkins both ended up scoring 21 points for ‘Nova. Sheldon McClellan scored 26 for Miami, and  Angel Rodriguez would add 13 in a losing effort.

Villanova will advance to play Kansas in the Elite Eight…one step closer to cutting down the nets.
