Utah finished second in the Pac 12 conference behind Oregon. They ultimately lost to Oregon in the Pac-12 Conference Tournament. Fast Forwarding to Selection Sunday… Utah got a 3 seed in the tournament. This set the Utes up for a dance with Fresno State. The Bulldogs defeated the Aztecs of San Diego State in the finals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament. Utah finished second in the Pac 12 conference behind Oregon. The Bulldogs defeated the Aztecs of San Diego State in the finals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament. At first, this was a game. Then, by the half, it wasn’t. Fresno State jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Utes head coach, Larry Krystkowiak,though let his players handle it instead of taking a timeout, and handle it they did. Utah used a 19-2 run to retake the lead and be up by some. The only lead that Fresno State would have in the game would be when they were up for :33 seconds at the beginning of the game. Utah would lead 33-22 at the break. The Utes would control the whole second half. Utah would end up winning the contest 80-69. This game ended Fresno State’s nine-game winning streak. Utah moves on to play Gonzaga in the second round.
