Butler

For the eighth time in ten years, the ninth-seeded Butler Bulldogs are in the NCAA Tournament. In the past, they had faced the likes of Old Dominion, Wake Forest, and Texas. In fact, in both 2010 and 2011, they made it into the national title game, losing both times though. Their first round opponent,  Texas Tech, has not made the tournament since 2007, where they lost in the first round to Boston College. This 8/9 matchup would be a good one.

This game at first would be a close one. The lead would change multiple times throughout the  first half. At the half, Butler would be on top by two, 30-28. Butler was shooting an impressive 52 percent. Butler would come in the clutch though, and Butler would end up winning the game by 10, 71-61. Kellen Dunham, the Bulldogs’ top scorer, scored 23 points. And the Bulldogs’ second leading scorer, Kelan Martin, woke up in the 2nd half to carry Butler to the victory. O’Fallon, IL native Roosevelt Jones scored only 4 points in the victory.

Butler will advance to play the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday from Raleigh, NC.
