The softball girls had tryouts February 27 and 28. Twenty-four girls made the team: 10 freshmen, 8 sophomores, 4 juniors and 2 seniors. Coach Dusty Cookson and Coach Katie Slaughterback are both excited for the season.
“We have young talent that will be competing for several starting positions that opened when 5 seniors graduated last year,” Coach Cookson said.
Their first game is March 20 against Springfield Southeast, and the girls are practicing every day and are working hard to get a good season.
“Our strengths are that we are a team and we work well together. We help each other,” said Coach Slaughterback.
“I’m excited even though I’m not playing. It’s going to be a good season,” said manager Jessi Edmiston.
“We have a young team, but hopefully it will be a good season,” senior Mallory Edwards said.
