The greatest family dog

Almost every little kid’s dream is to have a dog growing up; well, at least that was my biggest hope and dream. When it comes to getting a pup when a family has kids, one should always do the research on whatever dog the family is thinking about getting.  All dogs are great dogs but not all dogs love little kids pestering them 24/7. There are about ten breeds of dogs that are considered to be the best family dogs and at the very top of the list sits the Labrador. Labs are full of energy but also know when it’s time to chill out and calm down. Labs are extremely smart dogs and very fast learners; they’re also one of the most calm, patient, and loving dogs a family could ever own which is really good for kids. My boyfriend, Blake, just got a chocolate Lab last September, and since September, he has grown to a fifty-pound bundle of joy. We named him Ody;  Ody has learned how to sit, shake and lay down, and he was potty trained in two weeks. Ody actually learned how to sit within a couple of days. When parents have little kids and have to spend most of their time working with the kids and what they need to learn, parents don’t have much time to work with a dog so Labs are really good for that because they don’t need much training to learn what they need to be doing. Labs are not only fast learners, but they pick up on simple things like bringing in the newspaper from outside, pawing at the door when it’s time for them to go outside, and they’re good at distracting kids so mom and dad can get other things done. Labs also know how to do things without being told what to do. Labs know right from wrong; they are one breed of dogs that know what they can or should do and exactly what they shouldn’t do. Labs want nothing more than to please their owners and to keep them happy. They greet their owners with a wagging tail and kisses. Ody is a lover; he loves to cuddle and loves having his tummy rubbed more than anything in the world. Labradors are great for any household, but they’re especially good with big groups of people and little children.
